Film: A La Mode
I came to Hopkins with a passion for film; a passion for the entertainment of moving pictures coupled with sound to produce an experience not determined by ones own imagination. No other media conveys thought quite like that of film which offers the unique perspective into someones mind, how they see images...how they perceive the world.
My perspective on film stems from my personal theory on all forms of media: keeping an open mind about everything. From the most mainstream, traditional, and/or derivative chick flick to the most avant-garde and experimental indie movie, everything produced gives insight into others and only through understanding many different types, styles, personalities, etc. of people can we better understand exactly who we are.
This of course doesnt mean I enjoy every film but I will absolutely respect your work. Put yourself out there in the most raw of forms, such as through film, not only to entertain, teach, and communicate with others but to open yourself up specifically to be judged. That is what I consider courage.
I hope to bring in a fresh prospective on film. Through the eyes of someone who knows form but appreciates entertainment. Did I think that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was a beautifully crafted movie? Not necesarily. But was it entertaining for the nostalgic autobot loving 8 year-old trapped inside me? Absolutely.
I hope you enjoy my responses and I encourage open discussion.
